Friends Baby Shower

I am so behind! I've been meaning to blog about my second baby shower for weeks now! Better late than never!

On May 19th, I had my friends baby shower thrown by Amber, Cyndi, Kim, and Brandi at the Truth building. It was cool to have such an open space for people to mingle.  They did an awesome job decorating, its kinda hard to decorate such a big open space but it was great.  I had the most elaborate diaper cake anyone has ever seen! It was a fun time with friends and family.

covered in presents!

great Aggie gifts!

amazing diaper cake! Took Carlee and I over 30 minutes to undo it all

34 weeks

I realized I wore this shirt 7 weeks ago so I decided to do a side by side to see the difference...wow!

how far along? 34 weeks
how are you measuring? 36 weeks
size of baby? According to Baby Center our baby is 18 inches long, about 4.75 pounds, and the weight of an average canteloupe...but we know he weighs more than that...at least 5.6 lbs
heartbeat? 132 bpm (at our 32 week appointment)
total weight gain/loss? I don't know
maternity clothes? My maternity tops are starting to get a bit snug! Had to get a few more to last me the rest of the time....found some great deals on Target clearance rack!
sleep? I'm still sleeping pretty good.  It got a little difficult this week just a time or two.  I guess I'm entering that phase.  It's just so hard to turn over and get up. Get up once a night to use the restroom and let Sugie out, we are watching my parent's dog while they are on vacation. It works out well, I get up to go and I take him out too!
best moment this week? I haven't been good about doing these blog posts on Fridays when the week changes so I am having a hard time remembering last week because it's now Monday, ha. I guess just getting more done in his nursery, it's really coming together and I love the way it is turning out!
movement? He is moving a lot now! He is always pushing on my right side in the same spot.  He has actually been moving at night and has kept me from falling asleep, but not for long.
food cravings? I just want ice cream all the time....which isn't really much different from any other time, lol.
gender predictions? It's a BOY!
what i miss: I miss being able to get up easily.
what i'm looking forward to: Jeromy and I are taking a "last trip" before the baby comes next weekend.  We are going to Galveston which we have done so many times before but this time I want to see what we can do that we've never done there before.  And I'm excited to go to the beach!
how are you feeling? I feel pretty good during the day.  I've been getting pretty tired by the end of the day.  I had a little trouble getting comfortable trying to take a nap the other day but I think I was just full from lunch.  Feeling very excited and not nervous....hoping its only 4 more weeks!  Not from being uncomfortable, which I'm not yet, just because I'm ready and want to meet him!!

33 weeks

I'm behind!! I didn't do a 32 week post because I just didn't get around to it, bummer!

Technically I took this picture for the 32 week blog but didn't get around to it. It's between 32 and 33 weeks.

how far along? 33 weeks
how are you measuring? 35 weeks...measured at our appt last Thursday
size of baby? According to Baby Center our baby is 16.7 inches long, about 3.75 pounds, and the weight of a larger jicama. HOWEVER....according to his ultrasound measurements from last Thursday he is already 5.6 lbs! Oh goodness! At first I was really worried about it but realized if he came early, he's already at a good weight so that's a blessing.
heartbeat? 132 bpm (at our 32 week appointment)
total weight gain/loss? +34 lbs.....now past another goal of just 30, ugghhhhh
maternity clothes?  Still the same...maternity clothes mostly and then I also wear large tshirts and dresses
sleep? Still sleeping pretty good! Everyone says you can't sleep at the end but thankfully that hasn't started yet.  I wake up once a night to use the restroom or turn over but sleep very soundly.
best moment this week? We had our second baby shower today! It's so nice to be loved on by so many great friends and family! Very thankful for everyone that came today.
movement? He is moving more lately which I thought was strange because he should be running out of room especially since he's so big! He always pushes in the same spot on the right side of my stomach near my rib cage.
food cravings? Nothing really.
gender predictions? It's a BOY!
what i miss: I miss being able to turn over easily at night.  It's getting more difficult and hurts sometimes.
what i'm looking forward to:  We got so many wonderful gifts at our baby shower today, I can't wait to go through it all tomorrow and work more on his nursery! We got SO much done on it this weekend and its really coming together!
how are you feeling? I am still feeling really good. Rib cage still hurts each night but thats ok because everything else has been such a breeze. Starting to get a little warm.

Natural Remedies

I've had a bit of a cough over the last few days.  I'm so thankful there hasn't been a cold come on with it, just cough and chest congestion.  I've been coughing really bad at night.  Whenever Jeromy would make me laugh this weekend, I sounded like a smoker.  It was so funny!

I finally decided to take some medicine yesterday and had to look up which ones I could take.  I had a list of approved medicines from my first doctor and found that Robitussin cough syrup was on the list.  My normal inclination would be to take the medicine without hesitation.  However I was a little hesitant because of the pregnancy.  I'm sure its fine if its on the list but I just wasn't sure what I wanted to put into my body and therefore the baby's body.  I have many friends that don't take "normal" over the counter medicines or antibiotics unless absolutely necessary.  I decided I would ask my friend Melissa what she would do in my case.  She suggested a hot shower, tea, warm brothy soups, and echinacea.  I had to google echinacea honestly because I didn't know what it was :) I found you can get it in many different forms so I had to ask Melissa again what she would do! I decided I would get the echinacea capsules and some tea with echinacea too on her recommendation.

This was the only kind of tea I could find with echinacea in it so I gave it a whirl.

I took a capsule and drank some tea when we got home from the store.  I could totally tell the tea was working, my chest was feeling much better afterwards.  I knew it probably wasn't going to last all night though so I did take some of the cough syrup for night time.  I ended up taking two doses throughout the night.  I'm not sure if it helped or not.

I was determined to use just the natural remedies during the day today and try to keep the medicine at a minimum.  I took a hot shower this morning, drank more tea, took more capsules, had brothy soup at lunch and took no medicine.  I don't know if it was coincidence or not but I felt better today! I didn't cough quite as much in the afternoon after the soup.  We'll see how this evening goes, I don't think I'm going to take the cough syrup, just gonna drink more tea.

I would like to try my best to go to more natural remedies first before going to medicine especially for Jonathan when he comes.  We'll see how it goes.  I would say today was a very successful first attempt! I'm proud of myself!

Family Baby Shower!

Saturday was our first baby shower! It was a family and very close family friends shower.  It was so wonderful! Had lots of people come a long way driving over an hour to get there.  We are surely loved! Jeromy's Aunt Janice hosted us at her house and she is always so welcoming! The shower was hosted by Carlee, my mom, Vicki, Jamye (Carlee's mom), and Aunt Janice.  They did such a wonderful job on everything from the decorations to the food to the amazing cake pops!!

great hostesses!

After everyone showed up and mingled for a while we played one game called Itty Bitty Baby Parts, lol! There were 12 cards with a picture of a sonogram on each card, with different body parts.  We had to guess which body part went with which card.  It was so funny to see the faces people made as they looked at each card.  I didn't do very well, I only got 2 out of 12 right! After that, everyone went around introducing themselves and how they know or are related to me and Jeromy.  Then we ate food! There was salad, veggies, fruit, and spinach artichoke dip, yum! The best part of all was the cake pops that Carlee made....oh my, they were good! Everyone raved about them!

I didn't get a picture of it but one thing I loved was the Wisdom and Encouragement Tree.  Instead of doing a guest sign in book, everyone got a tag and wrote their name on it and a piece of advice or encourgment for me and hung it on the tree. I really enjoyed reading over those with Jeromy afterwards!

After the food, we opened presents.  We got SO many wonderful gifts, it was overwhelming! Jeromy came in at the end when I finished opening gifts and quickly thanked everyone for not only the gifts, but most importantly for the love and support.  I was SO proud of him and proud to be his wife! I think everyone was touched that he came to say hello and thank you, it was a great moment!

great gifts!

proud wife moment!

And that was pretty much it! After gifts, I took pictures with all our family groups before they left and then it was clean up time. It went by so fast! It was really great to see so much family in one room and to be so loved on!  Thank you again to everyone that came and to my hostesses for the wonderful shower!

31 weeks

how far along? 31 weeks
how are you measuring? 32 weeks? He was measuring a week ahead last time we checked, will know again in 2 weeks.
size of baby? According to Baby Center our baby is 16 inches long, about 3.3 pounds, and like the weight of four navel oranges.
heartbeat? 152 bpm (at our 28 week appointment)
total weight gain/loss? +30
maternity clothes? Yep! Still the same, wearing all maternity clothes and regular large tshirts and all my dresses from last summer (including the one in the picture! it's just a large from Ann Taylor Loft! that makes me feel good)
sleep? I didn't sleep quite as good this week but still getting lots of sleep in. I woke up almost every night at 3 am to use the restroom.  Some nights I would fall back to sleep easily and some nights I wouldn't.  One night I was coughing and I think it woke Jonathan up and he got the hiccups and then I got hungry so I knew I wasn't going back to sleep without a snack.  I got up and worked on my hostess gifts for my baby shower.
best moment this week? I had maternity pictures taken and we had our first baby shower! One of my favorite moments was when Jeromy came in at the end to thank everyone and he just made me so proud :)
movement? Lots of movement this week! He is moving a lot more during the day, not just at night.  It's always on the right side near the top, I feel him push there alot.
food cravings? Can't remember having any.
gender predictions? It's a BOY!
what i miss: I miss being able to turn over in the middle of the night easily.
what i'm looking forward to: Our nursery still has a long way to go.  Looking forward to Jeromy being home all next week so we can really work on it.
how are you feeling? Feeling good. I've had some pain in the lower belly this week, ligaments stretching? Not sure. I've had a cough this past weekend which has been waking us up at night but it seems to be getting better.

Maternity Pictures

I'm a pretty last minute gal on things, ha. I thought just this past weekend it would be nice to take some maternity pictures, just a few.  I am having my first baby shower this coming Saturday and thought it would be cute to have some pictures around the house with the decorations.  My wonderful mother in law agreed to be my personal photographer last minute and we got some taken just this morning :)  special thanks to my friend Holland for the SUPER last minute scrabble tiles.  I called her like 30 minutes before I was to meet Vicki for pics and Holland was able to meet me to so I could borrow them. Whew! Life saver!

We went to Rock Creek neighborhood on Grant Rd. where we took our pictures for our Christmas card/pregnancy annoucement.  Such a beautiful neighborhood and I see people taking pictures out there all the time. The weather was pretty good this morning and it all just worked out....very last minute! Here are my favorite pictures:
